About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Brooklyn at 1602 Gravesend Neck Rd, Anyway Cafe is a captivating Eastern European and European restaurant and bar that masterfully blends the rich culinary traditions of Eastern Europe with refined French influences. This one-of-a-kind venue doubles as a lively live music bar, making it an ideal spot for both authentic dining and memorable evenings out.

The moment you step inside, you are greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere where rustic charm meets contemporary coziness. Soft lighting and the hum of live Russian music set the tone for an experience that is as much about conviviality as it is about exceptional food and drink. Whether you’re stopping in late at night or planning a full evening, the ambiance instantly wraps you in a comforting hug, perfect for intimate dates or mingling with a diverse, stylish crowd.

Anyway Cafe’s menu reads like a heartfelt ode to Eastern European culinary artistry. Start your journey with the vibrant Beet Salad or the remarkable Potato Pancakes, each bite layered with traditional flavors elevated by fresh, carefully selected ingredients. The star appetizers—robust Chicken Liver Pate and rich Bone Marrow—offer deep, indulgent tastes that linger delightfully on the palate.

For entrees, the Chicken Stroganoff is a creamy, sumptuous dish enlivened by tender chunks of chicken swimming in an exquisite sauce, served alongside velvety mashed potatoes that perfectly complement every mouthful. The Smoked Turkey and Mushroom Julienne is another standout, melding smoky, earthy flavors with a beautifully smooth texture. Adventurous diners will be enchanted by the Wild Mushroom Pelmeni Pasta and Паста Соус Чикен, showcasing the café's skillful fusion of pasta with traditional Eastern European flavors.

Easy to get lost in, the cocktail menu is a spirited adventure of its own. The homemade infused vodkas and creative martinis are a signature highlight—must-tries include the intriguingly earthy Borscht Martini, the intoxicatingly smooth Chocolate Martini, and the bright, refreshing Passion Fruit Martini. As one visitor reminisced, the selection of flavored vodkas is “so numerous and creative it took a long time to decide,” a testament to the care and creativity poured into every pour.

The dessert offerings are no less tempting: luscious Sweet Crepes with Raspberry and Chocolate, the elegant Anna Something Dessert, and comfortingly rich Coffee Gateau served with caramelized apples and vanilla ice cream offer a perfect sweet finale to your meal. You will find yourself savoring every spoonful, the textures and flavors crafted to leave a lasting impression.

Anything but an ordinary neighborhood spot, Anyway Cafe has earned heartfelt praise from its patrons. Frequent customers describe it as a “hidden treasure” with “great food and atmosphere,” and many highlight the “great and courteous service,” noting staff like Omar who make every visit special. The live music, often Russian or Eastern European, infuses the space with energy and authenticity, creating an experience that goes well beyond just dining.

It's a great place I've known forever, great food and atmosphere. Live music. Lots of good looking patrons to mingle with. Try their homemade infusions. Pavlova desert is not bad

Went with a friend yesterday, after more than a decade. Food is insane. Appetizers - better than anywhere in NY or even Paris...We ordered shrimp cocktail, calmari, capreae, frogs legs (deep fried - out of this world), escargot. Sauces, dips - all house made and delicious. Nalivki(infusions) and cocktails - super. Great and corteous service. So excited to have found a great place to eat and bring guests so close to home. A MUST- visit gem. And yes, prices are very decent given size and quality of the portions. Glory to the Cook!

Only stopped by for a few drinks, but had a great time. The selection of flavored vodkas was so numerous and creative it took a long time to decide what we all wanted to sample! The atmosphere is charming and cozy and the owner is an absolute pleasure. They also had some live music playing when we were there.

What an amazing hidden treasure by Belt Parkway! Was stuck in the traffic for 2 1/2 hours, Needed so badly for the restroom stop and food around 10:45 pm . Doing Google map randomly research find this charming place open till 2 am . First I thought it probably just a regular diner . When I walked in, it’s more like a beautiful bar , and Pleasantly surprise there are some gourmet delicacies serving till midnight. I ordered skirt steak with a glass Malbec. Reasonable price. What a beautiful dish with Absolutely the most of flavorful skirt steak I ever had . While I was busy taking pictures and share my experience with friends my discovery , here came super friendly chef Alex ! Alex making sure the steak served perfectly and I really enjoying my steak . We end up making friends He promises he will fix me a very nice Traditional Russian meal next time I stop by if I text him ahead of time. Alex is that cute young man at 2 of the photos I took . The beautiful bartender Alina is another treat of Anyway Cafe . She is an very experienced bartender not only making great drinks also knows how to engage with guests. Love the special Ginger infused shot she made for me . I have been in hospitality business in New York City for over 20 years. I highly recommend this charming café. Anyway Cafe is one of my favorite stops after I drop off my clients at JFK now. It’s Literally by Bell Parkway exit 7B and subway station near by. If you stuck at belt parkway traffic. It will be a great place to refresh yourself. BTW , Anyway Cafe is Cash only , just be aware of it. There is a ATM inside Maybe see you there ?!

Love coming here for spontaneous date nights with hubby… the spot is just so quaint and has a jazzy feel to it. The food and service is impeccable… had their tuna tartare which I highly recommend along with their avocado salad. Tried something new: bone marrow which was a true delicacy. I can’t not get enough of their cocktails: limitless options on their martini selection. Highly recommend to try the lychee and passion fruit. Their beer on tap is also a delight with a variety to choose from. A perfect date spot for any day of the week… live music on the weekends.

We visited on Tuesday, and there were hardly any people, so we could fully enjoy the atmosphere. We really loved the Martini drinks – we tried almost all the flavors, and each one was interesting in its own way! The snacks and food were great too, and we had a very pleasant evening. Special thanks to the sweet and friendly bartender who served us so warmly and even treated us on behalf of the establishment. A perfect place for a calm and cozy evening!

Love this place. This is a neighborhood gem with jazz music playing everyday. The food is delicious and the drinks are great too. Particularly great lychee martinis with a perfect balance of sugar and vodka. Romanoff salad is really good and the ravioli, both duck and mushroom are wonderful. The atmosphere is dark and candlelight cozy, perfect place for a date or a relaxing evening.
